Southampton, UK. – Lowrance®, a world-leader in fishing electronics since 1957,announced today its sponsorship of the Sea Angling Classic. This is an event like no other, with a host of elite anglers from across the UK competing for some top prizes. A big difference is that there is a huge educational element to the event, it is not just for competitive anglers. There will be many shore based activities including shoreline cleanups and taster fishing sessions, offering the younger generation the opportunity to see anglers in action and try out fishing themselves!
In addition to the competition the event will also deliver key data on different fish species, with the aim to help secure the future of sea fishing. The UK Sea Angling Classic is the first in its series, being hosted this summer between the 23rd and 25th of July; the 2021 tournament is an invite only launch event for anglers, showcasing what is to come next year when it will be open to entries from across Europe. The competition will see over 40 boats taking to the Solent waters from Chichester Harbour, with anglers earning points for combined length of the longest 3 of each species.
Lowrance are providing some fantastic prizes, the competition winner will be kitted out with an HDS LIVE; the most powerful and premium performance product, with complete networking and support for the full range of innovative sonar features. Other prizes include the EliteFS™, the newest, mid range Lowrance product, and HOOK Reveal; featuring FishReveal™ and Autotuning, this powerful fishfinding tool combines simple target identification from CHIRP sonar with high-resolution DownScan Imaging™, ideal for anglers who just want to switch on, find and catch fish.
There will be several Lowrance product experts on site to provide technical support to competitors, as well as showcasing the latest developments in marine electronics to those enjoying the shore-based activities. The event has already attracted a lot of interest due to its unique and innovative nature, Ross Honey Organiser and Founder said “this is much more than just another fishing event as it has a multitude of initiatives directly linked to respect for the environment, best practice angling and the engagement of children and their families. The event will be a catch, photograph and release event using a custom-made App that we have developed providing a live leaderboard for everybody to follow. 2021 is the official media launch in advance of the full event which will run in 2022 with over 1,000 anglers competing.
