How to download a Free Social Map to your unit

C-MAP Genesis has been around since 2013 and it’s free

Anyone with a compatible device (Lowrance, Simrad or B&G) can download C-MAP Genesis. What’s even nicer is that the same person can also contribute to the community by uploading his recorded sonar data. Since 2013, the community has sent us data covering millions of hectares on Social Map.

Downloading a Genesis map is easy, here is how you do it...

Steps 1 & 2

1)      First you need to create an account on www.genesismaps.com .

2)      When downloading a Genesis map for the first time, you need your unit on www.genesismaps.com. The way you do that is, power up your unit and locate the Serial No. and Content ID, as below;

3)      Add the Serial No. and Content ID on www.genesismaps.com. Firstly, login with your credentials, then you scroll down to “Add Device”. Make sure you enter the numbers correctly.

Step 4

4)     You can now download a Genesis Social Map for free. Go into Social Map, click on the lake you want to download and click on the “download button”.  Be aware that before putting the file on your SD card, the file is unzipped.

For a better experience out on the water, we encourage you to contribute to the community as well. How to do that? Just start a sonar recording next time you are out on the water. Then upload the data on www.genesismaps.com . Tight lines
